Will stop water & power supply to Cantonment: IT and Municipal Administration Minister KT Rama Rao today warned that the State government will stop supply of water and power to the Secunderbad Cantonment area.

On a Budget debate in the Assembly on the city development, KTR replied to queries on facilities. He took a serious exception to the officials concerned for closing down the roads causing heavy traffic problem for the people.

“The State government has been appealing to the Centre and Defense officials to open the roads in Cantonment area. We are now planning to stop supply of the water and power supply to the Cantonment area. During the rainy season Nadeem colony and other low-lying locations were being submerged and we are unable to address the issue due to closure of the roads in Golconda cantonment area.

Our efforts are failing as ASI officials denying permission to release water through check dams and downstream. No avail to release water from Shatam cheruvu area to Golconda downstream as ASI is denying permission. The Cantonment and other officials should cooperate for providing facilities and live together, he said, adding that the way the Cantonment is not good.

We will not allow them to construct checkdams and see if they come down, he said. Also the officials at Cantonment area in Secunderabad are not ready to understand the traffic problems. We appealed repeatedly and now will see if they respond he said, adding that they will stop water and power supply to the cantonment areas.
