Kavitha demands rollback in auctioning CCI assets

Hyderabad, May 18 (Maxim News): Telangana Rashtra Samithi MLC Kalvakuntla Kavitha found fault with the Centre’s decision to auction the assets of the Cement Corporation of India (CCI) in Adilabad and demanded the immediate rollback of its decision.

In a release here on Wednesday, Kavitha, who is also a daughter of Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao, said that the union government’s decision to auction the CCI assets would affect 5,000 families and would also spoil the livelihood of thousands of people.

She demanded the Centre to withdraw the decision and to take steps to revive the unit at the earliest.

Kavitha lashed out at the BJP government for failing to revive Adilabad CCI even as the State was ready to extend all support.

” Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao called on Prime Minister Narendra Modi on the subject on several occasions, urging the allocation of adequate funds for the revival of the plant, but in vain,” she pointed out.

Kavitha also accused the State BJP leaders of maintaining silence over the Centre’s decision to sell the plant as scrap and criticised them for failing to protect the interests of Telangana State.

The union government has recently issued a notification inviting the bids through Electronic Tendering System (ETS) and invited for the appointment of valuers for the assessment of the assets required for the disposal of the plant, machinery with the plant’s structure, store and scrap and dismantling quarters of the township of Adilabad branch of CCI.

Accusing Congress leader Rahul Gandhi of making derogatory remarks against the regional parties, Kavitha said that the Congress leadership isn’t learning any lessons even though the party is becoming a tail party in the country. (Maxim News)
