BJP Govt will fail in its attempts to malign the Nehru-Gandhi family’s image: Shabbir

Hyderabad, June 20 (Maxim News): Former Minister Mohammed Ali Shabbir accused the BJP Government at the Centre of attempting to malign the image of the Nehru-Gandhi family among the public in view of forthcoming elections.

He was addressing a massive public at Singaraipalli Jagadamba Thanda School in Reddypet of Ramareddy Mandal in Kamareddy district on Monday as part of Congress Raithu Rachabanda.

Shabbir Ali said that the BJP Govt had failed on all fronts as Prime Minister Narendra Modi could not fulfill any of the promises he made to the people in the last eight years. Inflation and unemployment are at their peak and the BJP Govt has no solutions to provide relief to the common people. Therefore, in order to divert attention people’s attention from the real issues, BJP Govt has used Enforcement Directorate to question Congress president Sonia Gandhi and former President Rahul Gandhi regarding a non-existent case of National Herald. He said that the Enforcement Directorate officials have been working on the directions of the BJP leadership who assigned them the task of harassing the Nehru-Gandhi family. He said that the ED questioning Rahul Gandhi for about 40 hours in four days regarding an issue raised in 2015 without any basis, clearly shows that the BJP Govt wants to keep the people’s attention diverted from other issues.

He said that the BJP Govt would fail in all its attempts to malign the image of the Nehru-Gandhi family. He pointed out that the then Prime Minister Indira Gandhi included the Lambada community in the Scheduled Tribes. Further, he said that the former Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi empowered the Gram Panchayats and gave them several powers. “BJP Govt is trying to threaten a family which always worked for the welfare of the poor. Former Prime Ministers Indira Gandhi and Rajiv Gandhi sacrificed their lives for the unity and integrity of the country. Sonia Gandhi sacrificed the post of the Prime Minister as she believed in services and not power. Similarly, Rahul Gandhi rejected the PM’s post on multiple occasions between 2004 to 2014 as he wanted to serve society as a commoner. It is condemnable that the BJP leaders are trying to intimidate the same family using Central agencies like the Enforcement Directorate,” he said.

The Congress leader said that the BJP has been using the ED as a weapon to attack the opposition parties and their leaders before elections. He said that the BJP has no respect either for the opposition or the democracy. He said that the people of the country have now realised that the BJP Govt was cheating them on one pretext or another. Therefore, he said that the Congress party would bounce back to power both at the Centre and the Telangana State in the next elections.

Shabbir said that the situation in Telangana has been turning from bad to worse. He said that Chief Minister K. Chandrashekar Rao has been making fake claims of Telangana becoming the richest State in the country. Contrary to KCR’s claims, Telangana is in a huge financial crisis with debts of over Rs. 5 lakh crore. He said that the State Govt would not be in a position to pay salaries to its staff if it fails to get another loan of Rs. 11,000 crore in the next two three months.

The Congress leader said that CM KCR has shattered the dream of Telangana and all sections of the society remained neglected under the TRS regime. He said that the farmers were still waiting for the implementation of promised crop loan waiver up to Rs. 1 lakh. He said that a majority of paddy farmers suffered huge losses as the TRS Govt failed to procure their entire paddy. He alleged that many farmers were forced to sell their paddy at prices lower than the MSP due to the deliberate delay caused by TRS Govt in paddy procurement. He said thousands of farmers lost their crops due to unseasonal or pre-monsoon rains and TRS Govt did not pay them any compensation.

Shabbir Al also demanded that the Central Govt immediately withdraw the Agnipath scheme for recruitment into the armed forces. He said that the Agnipath scheme was faulty and it envisages hiring soldiers on a contract basis. He said that the Agnipath scheme comprises the security of the nation. Therefore, he said that the Modi Govt should accept the demand being made by thousands of protesting youth across the country and withdraw the scheme.

The Congress leader said that the Congress party would implement all the promises made in the Warangal Declaration after it comes to power in the next elections. He said that the farmers would get crop loan waivers up to Rs. 2 lakh in a single take, financial assistance of Rs. 15,000 per acre and better MSP for all their produce.
