PM Modi delivers a “strong message” at the G7 Summit

At the recently concluded G7 meeting in Germany, Prime Minister Narendra Modi emphasized the importance of addressing the Ukraine conflict peacefully through dialogue and peace, and he positioned India as a solution provider for the global food, health, and energy crises in a clear message to the world’s richest nations comprising the G7. While meeting global leaders, PM Modi’s meetings with leaders of Argentina, South Africa, and Indonesia, particularly, were an attempt to strengthen South-South Cooperation amid geopolitical tensions.

In quick succession, the PM’s two trips to Europe sent a message that a multipolar order is on the way. Prime Minister Modi met with a number of world leaders, including US President Joe Biden, French President Emmanuel Macron, and Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau, among others. During his two-day G7 visit, he had lengthy meetings with South African President Cyril Ramaphosa, German Chancellor Olaf Scholz, and Indonesian President Joko Widodo.

The official Twitter handle of the Prime Minister’s Office in India tweeted, “PM @narendramodi and President @jokowi had a productive meeting. Their talks will add strength to the Comprehensive Strategic Partnership between India and Indonesia. Both leaders also discussed ways to boost connectivity and business linkages.” He also met the President of the European Union Commission Ursula von der Leyen.

After the G7 summit, PM Modi tweeted that he had a “productive visit” to the European nation. He tweeted, “I thank the people of Germany, @Bundeskanzler Scholz and the German Government for their hospitality during the entire visit. I am confident India-Germany friendship will scale newer heights in the times to come.”
