After the Maharashtra assembly elections in 2019, Sharad Pawar succeeded in forming the government by bringing the Congress and the Shiv Sena together to remove the BJP from the seat of power.

He is the focal point of the discussions on the Third Front. Bihar CM Nitish Kumar recently discussed the anti-NDA front with him.
