Health dept to constitute committees to contain spread of infection in hospitals: Harish Rao

Hyderabad, Sept.23 (NSS): Minister for Health T Harish Rao said that the health department was initiating a three-layer step to contain the spread of infection in the hospitals.

While participating in a ‘Hospital Infection, Prevention and Control Training Program’ at Nizam’s Institute of Medical Sciences (NIMS) on Friday, Minister Harish Rao said that the Health department had directed all the hospitals to constitute an inspection control committee led by the Superintendents in their respective hospitals and every Monday should review the progress of the situation and take measures accordingly.

Harish Rao said the State government has already initiated the process of issuing a notification for the recruitment of 2140 doctors in primary health care facilities and Government specialty teaching hospitals and the notification in this regard will be issued in a couple of days. In addition to recruiting doctors at PHC and tertiary level, in the next few weeks, a total of 140 nurses who have completed midwifery courses will also be inducted in government maternity hospitals, he said.

With an expenditure of Rs. 20 crores, the State government has launched an equipment management policy. We are modernizing mortuaries with a cost of Rs. 30 crore and procuring 56 high-end ultrasound machines. While the State government is doing its best to ensure infrastructure is upgraded and available, the quality of health care also depends on caregivers. It is our duty to provide good and quality health care facilities to the poor in rural and urban parts of Telangana,” Harish Rao said. (NSS)
