Junagadh/Hyderabad, June 17 (Maxim News): A person died in the latest incident of violence in Junagadh, Gujarat. A few policemen were injured in the stone pelting incident.
An anti-encroachment drive was undertaken to remove the illegally constructed mosque. At that time, conflicts arose. The protesting locals got into an argument with the police. They resorted to baton charges to disperse the crowd.
SP Ravi Raja said that the Junagadh Municipal Corporation had issued notices to the mosque built at Majewadi Gate in the city a week ago. The documents related to the construction were ordered to be submitted within five days.
The SP said that about six hundred people protested in the mosque area on Friday and asked the protesters not to block the road. The stone pelting incident took place at 10.15 pm. It was revealed that around 174 people were rounded up in this incident. (Maxim News)
