- UIDAI launches new e-Aadhaar app to simplify name and address changes
- The new Aadhaar mobile app allows digital updates from anywhere
The Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI) has launched a new app called e-Aadhaar to make it easier for citizens to update their Aadhaar details. This step comes as a relief to millions who struggle to correct inaccuracies in their Aadhaar cards such as name, date of birth, or address.
Earlier, people often faced difficulties when the information on their Aadhaar card did not match their study certificates or other official documents. Many visited Aadhaar centers several times, waited for hours, and often returned without completing the process. The new e-Aadhaar app aims to end this problem by allowing users to manage and edit their details directly from their mobile phones.
The new mobile application has been designed with the goal of making Aadhaar updates fast, safe, and fully digital. With the e-Aadhaar app, people can link their mobile number to their Aadhaar and correct personal details from the comfort of their homes. This eliminates the need to visit an Aadhaar center, reducing the time and effort needed for small updates.
Until now, citizens had to physically visit Aadhaar Seva Kendras to change details such as name, address, or date of birth. With the newly introduced app, UIDAI has brought these services directly to smartphones. The app’s design ensures security through multiple verification steps, including face authentication using the phone’s selfie camera.
To get started, users need to download the e-Aadhaar app from the Google Play Store. They can log in using their Aadhaar number, verify their mobile through an SMS-based process, and then proceed with face authentication for security. Once verified, users can instantly modify their Aadhaar information and save their updated data.
This initiative by UIDAI brings another big leap in India’s digital governance efforts, ensuring that Aadhaar maintenance becomes faster, simpler, and fully user-controlled.
