Advocates and Activists | Hyderabad, Aug 23 (Maxim News): A group of prominent Hyderabad-based activists and legal experts has appealed to the Telangana Minorities Welfare Department, urging the government to take prompt action on a matter currently pending in the High Court.
In a detailed letter addressed to the Secretary of the Telangana Minorities Welfare Department, the petitioners highlighted three key demands:
Pending Supreme Court Case Against Waqf Amendment Act, 2025 : The letter notes that an case is pending before the Apex Court challenging the Waqf Amendment Act, 2025, which is currently subjudice and awaiting final orders from the apex court.
The single judge bench at Telangana High Court invoked Sec. 23(1) of the Waqf Amendment Act 2025 that is subjudice and reserved for orders. And, issued orders on 05.08.2025 in original case and on 07.08.2025 in contempt case for removal of the CEO of Telangana Waqf Board. This has caused great confusion and distress to the people at large.
Repeal of GO RT No. 54: The petitioners have requested the repeal of Government Order RT No. 54, issued on July 2, 2025, by the Secretary of the Minorities Welfare (Estt-II) Department.
Issuance of Corrected GO on Equivalent Rank: They have also sought the issuance of a fresh government order clarifying that the equivalent rank of the Additional Collector should align with service rules, equivalent to, or higher than, a Joint Secretary to the Government of Telangana.
