Afzalgunj Police Nab Automobile Theft Offender, Recover Five Stolen Motorcycles

Hyderabad: The Afzalgunj Police on Sunday apprehended an automobile theft offender and recovered five stolen motorcycles from his possession, bringing a breakthrough in multiple theft cases across Hyderabad and Mahboob Nagar.

The action began after a complaint was lodged on 19 November 2025 by Manga Manideep, an 18-year-old student from Chatrinaka. He reported that his Hero Passion Plus (TS07GQ5462), parked at the Dhobighat parking area of Osmania General Hospital on 12 November, had gone missing. Manideep had visited the hospital to attend to his grandfather admitted in the orthopaedic ward when the theft occurred.

Following the complaint, the Crime Team of Afzalgunj Police Station, under the leadership of SHO N. Ravi, Detective Inspector B. Ravi Kiran, and DSI V. Narender Reddy, launched an intensive investigation. On 1 December 2025 at 10:15 am, the team apprehended the accused, who later confessed to committing five automobile thefts.

During interrogation, police learned that Naresh targeted busy parking areas, used duplicate keys to break handle locks, and swiftly escaped with the vehicles. He planned to sell the stolen motorcycles to potential buyers in Hyderabad and Mahboob Nagar. Police stated that his arrest prevented several more thefts and a possible escape to his native village.

The arrest was made under the supervision of Dr. B. Balaswamy, IPS, DCP East Zone, J. Narsaiah, Addl. DCP, East Zone, and M. Mattaiah, ACP Sultan Bazaar Division.
