Agnipath violence: Rs 12 crore property damage at Secunderabad railway station
Hyderabad, June 19: The violent incident at Secunderabad railway station had caused heavy property damage. Hundreds of protestors vandalized and set on fire a few coaches at Secunderabad railway station on Friday morning.
Division railway manager AK Gupta said that Rs 12 crore loss was incurred due to the violent protests that took place in Secunderabad railway station. As many as eight railway staff received injuries.
In the melee, 30 AC and 47 non-Ac compartments and five rail engines were damaged partially while CCTV cameras, TVs, shops, parcels, escalators, fans, digital boards on the platform were totally damaged.
He said that they are estimating the indirect loss incurred from the payments due to trains cancellation, parcels and others. Even the luggage of passengers was damaged. He said that railway signal system was not damaged and trains were restored from Friday night.
“Luckily nothing has happened to power car. Heavy damage might have caused if the power car catches fire as it has 3,000 litres diesil,” he stated.
