AIIMS Bibinagar and IIIT-H Collaborate to Launch ‘MedCare AI Hackathon’ for Next-Gen Healthcare Innovations
Hyderabad, July 10, 2025 — In a breakthrough effort to integrate artificial intelligence with frontline healthcare, AIIMS Bibinagar and IIIT Hyderabad’s Centre for Innovation and Entrepreneurship (CIE) jointly hosted the ‘MedCare AI Impact Hackathon’, a high-impact event designed to accelerate innovation at the intersection of medicine and deep tech.
The hackathon, held at the AIIMS Bibinagar campus on Hyderabad’s outskirts, drew participation from doctors, medical students, AI researchers, and health tech innovators. The event aimed to co-develop scalable, AI-powered clinical tools and solutions that can address India’s most pressing healthcare challenges.
Out of over 65 idea submissions, 17 standout teams were selected to compete in the final round. The top five winners earned access to early-stage seed funding, ₹5 lakh grants, incubation at IIITH’s CIE, and opportunities to develop their prototypes with access to cutting-edge research labs.
Top Innovations Showcased:
- AI Dent Triage: A multimodal AI-based tool for automated dental diagnostics and triage.
- NeoScreen AI: An offline-compatible stool image analyzer for early detection of Extrahepatic Biliary Atresia (EHBA).
- TMJ 3D View: An AI-powered solution for automated 3D segmentation of temporomandibular joints (TMJ) from MRI scans.
- Gluco Pulse: A smart 3D-printed mouthguard capable of monitoring salivary glucose levels.
- Safeped AI: A real-time AI-enabled checklist system to enhance pediatric surgical safety.
Event Highlights:

The MedCare AI Impact Hackathon is being positioned as the first in a series of collaborative efforts between academic, clinical, and tech institutions. With India rapidly emerging as a global health tech hub, this initiative lays the foundation for developing homegrown solutions that are affordable, accessible, and impactful.
