Ailing RTC Hikes Bus Fares From Monday To Net Rs 750 Crore Per Year

Hyderabad, Dec.2 (Maxim News): The State government has decided to hike RTC bus fares from Monday midnight across the State. In the city, minimum fare in ordinary bus has been hiked from Rs 5 to Rs.10.

The new bus fares will be Rs 15 in express, Rs 25 in super luxury and Rs 35 in Garuda and AC sleeper buses. In the city buses, Metro Express minimum fare is kept unchanged at Rs 10 and maximum fares hiked to Rs 35 from Rs 30. In the deluxe buses, minimum fare will be same and the maximum fare was hiked from Rs 30 to Rs 40.

On account of change problem with passengers and conductors, the minimum fare in Pallevelugu services was hiked from Rs 6 to Rs 10 and the maximum fare has been hiked from Rs 73 to Rs 100.

Similarly, the ordinary monthly bus pass has been hiked from Rs 770 to 950, Metro Express bus pass from Rs 880 to 1070 and Metro Deluxe pass from Rs 990 to Rs 1185. Price of Travel As You Like (TAYL) 24-hour bus pass been raised from Rs 80 to Rs 100.

According to the information, the TSRTC officials have made all arrangements and directed the conductors, drivers to collect new charges from the midnight of December 2. The government directed the officials to hike charges by 20 paisa per kilometer and it will fetch Rs 750 crore additional revenue to the ailing TSRTC. It may be mentioned here that Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao announced hike in bus charges in Pragati Bhavan after cabinet decision to hike bus fares. (Maxim News)
