All GHMC Employees to Register for Facial Recognition Attendance: Mayor Vijayalakshmi

The directive followed a surprise inspection by the Mayor at the GHMC headquarters, where she reviewed operations in the Town Planning, Health, and Veterinary Departments. During the review with Additional Commissioners and HODs, Mayor Vijayalakshmi emphasized that both permanent and outsourced employees at all levels must register through the facial recognition system. Any lapses in compliance, she warned, will lead to disciplinary measures.

The Mayor also questioned the Additional Commissioner about the exact number of outsourced employees working at the GHMC headquarters, noting discrepancies in the reporting. She instructed officials to provide detailed records of outsourced employees, ensuring that all hirings have received appropriate authorization from the Commissioner.

In a bid to strengthen oversight, Mayor Vijayalakshmi directed that all GHMC employees drawing a salary—regardless of their department—be included in the facial recognition system. Additionally, she mandated that future recruitment of outsourced staff be centralized at the GHMC head office.

The Mayor also stressed the importance of timely response to public grievances, directing officials to resolve citizen complaints promptly and to prevent repetitive issues. Should a complaint remain unresolved, the reasons must be communicated in writing to the applicant. HODs who fail to follow this protocol were cautioned that they may face consequences.
