Hyderabad, May 29 (Maxim News): Five months after jail for Pushpa 2 Stampede, Allu Arjun gets Telangana Government Award after spending a day in jail in connection with a stampede incident during the Pushpa 2 release, Telugu superstar Allu Arjun has now been given the Best Actor award by the Telangana government

The award was announced today as part of the Gaddar Awards, instituted by the state government to honour excellence in Telugu cinema. Allu Arjun, who was arrested by the Congress-led government following the death of a young boy and injuries to others during the Pushpa 2 celebrations at Sandhya Theatre in December 2024, was sent to judicial custody. He was released on interim bail the same day, but the incident had sparked controversy and political reactions.

Now, months after that incident, the government has chosen to honour Arjun for his performance in Pushpa 2. The Rule, a film that has been both a commercial hit and a major talking point. His selection for the Gaddar Best Actor Award comes at a time when many are still debating the accountability surrounding the tragic event.

The Gaddar Awards, named after revolutionary balladeer Gaddar, are being revived after 14 years and are positioned as Telangana’s official film honours. The awards ceremony will take place on June 14, coinciding with Gaddar’s birth anniversary. While kalki 2898 AD won Best Film and director Nag Ashwin was recognised for his work. (Maxim News)
