Amaravati Land Acquisition: YS Sharmila Slams CM Chandrababu Over Second Phase Land Pooling
Amaravati/Hyderabad, Nov. 29 (Maxim News): Amaravati land acquisition plans draw sharp criticism from Congress. The party questions Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu’s approach to the second phase.
While speaking with scribes YS Sharmila, President of Andhra Pradesh Congress Committee, demanded a white paper on capital lands immediately here on Saturday. Congress opposes fresh land pooling strongly. They also condemn plans for lakh crore debts for the capital. Therefore, tensions rise over farmer promises and project delays. No world-class Amaravati city emerged from the first phase, 54,000 acres collected. Iconic community buildings remain missing.
Out of 34,000 acres taken from farmers, promises to 29,000 farmers stay unfulfilled. Not even one kilometer of construction happened in the 217 square kilometers area.
However, leaders now talk of a second phase with 16,000 acres. Congress calls this real estate mafia tactics. They ask if plans favor Adani and Ambani through land grabs.
Comparisons highlight excess land needs. Mumbai Chhatrapati airport uses 1850 acres. Bhogapuram requires 2200 acres. Yet Amaravati demands 5000 acres. Olympic sports cities in Beijing and London span 150 acres each.
Still, Amaravati Sports City seeks 2500 acres. No industry has arrived in 11 years. Smart industries now justify more land. Congress doubts this claim. Meanwhile, they urge clarity on Phase 2 suspicions.
Congress insists Amaravati must become a world city, yet first phase lands suffice without building capital. Blackmailing farmers with municipality threats is wrong. This cheated 29,000 farmers who gave land. They reject second phase polling outright. Capital construction is the Centre’s duty.
Bifurcation promised division. Instead of asking the Centre directly, why cover school names and beat drums? Debts in Amaravati’s name burden lifetimes. (Maxim News)
