Ambani ‘JIO’ Enters Healthcare Sector: DNA Test For Just Rs. 1,000
Hyderabad, Dec 19 (Maxim News): Reliance Industries Chairman Mukesh Ambani has ushered in another major revolution. The seccess seen in the telecom sector with ‘Jio’ by providing data at the lowest price is being planned to be repeated in the healthcare sector as well.
Reliance Group has decided to drastically reduce the prices of ‘genomic testing’, which is used to detect fatal diseases early, and make it accessible to the common man. Ambani is planning to bring down the prices of these tests, which are currently more than Rs. 10,000 in the market, to less than Rs. 1,000.
Genomic tests are tests that analyze a person’s genetic sequence (DNA). These tests can predict the risk of future diseases like cancer, heart disease and diabetes. Until now, these tests were very expensive and were limited to the wealthy.
However, Reliance has entered this field through its subsidiary ‘Strand Life Sciences’ and is using cutting -edge technology to reduce the cost of tests by up to 90% (Maxim News)
