Andhra: Ministers Visited Flood Hit Areas In Nellore
Heavy rains lashed many parts of Nellore district due to the impact of Cyclone Nivar for the last couple of days. Many inland colonies, including Nellore and Bhagat Singh Colony, were inundated by the Penna River. On Sunday, ministers Mekapati Gautam Reddy and Anil Kumar Yadav toured the flood-hit areas. They went to the people and assured them that the government would support and help the people.
He then inspected the area where the house collapsed and said that the government would provide the necessary assistance as soon as possible. Authorities have been instructed to provide the flood-hit area with special attention in advance in the wake of information from the Meteorological Department that another cyclone is likely to hit. He said that he don’t want to see people getting into any trouble.
The minister assured that the issue will be taken to Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy’s notice and ensure that the Penna river basin would be looked after without any problems due to floods in the near future. The ministers said that bunds would be built on both sides of the river to prevent trouble to the colonies from the Penna River.
Meanwhile, another low pressure is likely in the Bay of Bengal, which is named as Burevi as it was likely to turn into a deep depression. It has been raining on the beaches since Sunday with this effect. The Meteriological Office has forecasted heavy rains for three days from December 1. Reservoirs and ponds in many districts have already been completely flooded due to torrential rains in the form of Cyclone. Excess water release is ongoing and inland areas are thick with waterlogging and relief efforts are in full swing.
