Another Milestone for Osmania University  

Osmania University | Hyderabad, March 27 (Maxim News): A Memorandum of Understanding  ( MoU) was signed between Coal India Limited (CIL)and Osmania University for the establishment of CIL Chair Professor at the Department of Mining Engineering, University College of Engineering, Osmania University here today.  

Pramod Agarwal, Chairman cum Managing Director, of Coal India Limited was the Chief Guest for the occasion. Dr. B. Veera Reddy Director (Technical), CCI was the Guest of Honor, and Sr. Prof. D. Ravinder, Vice Chancellor, Osmania University, Presided over the function.

Prof. P. Laxminarayana, Registrar, OU, Prof. Sriram Venkatesh, Principal, UCE, Mr. B. Ramesh Kumar from NMDC and President of Mining Engineers Alumni, Dr. D. Vijay Kumar President of Alumni Association of UCE, OU, Chairman MoU committee Prof. G. B. Reddy, alumni members of Mining Department and other invitees were present at the occasion.

Members expressed their delight in their efforts blossoming into the signing of the MoU and establishment of the CIL Chair Professor at OU.

 Dr. D. Vijay Kumar, President of the Alumni Association of UCE, said he was highly elated and considered it a great gesture on the part of CIL.

Registrar OU, Prof. P. Laxminarayana thanked the members of CIL for their generosity and support for the cause of students.

Prof. Sriram Venkatesh conveyed that he will give his full support in all the infrastructural aspects of establishing the Mining department.

Guest of Honour Dr. B. Veera Reddy on behalf of Mining Alumni profusely thanked Shri Promod Agarwal for a one-time grant of Rs. 3 crores for a wonderful cause for restoring the glory of the Mining Department. He applauded the achievements of Coal India Limited in meeting the energy requirements of our country.

Chief Guest Pramod Agarwal, complimented the presence of strong Alumni at OU for their commitment to their Alma mater. He said that the MoU will be a win-win situation for OU and CIL and the tie-up will be a multiplier effect and synergistic impact on all the stakeholders. He rated OU as one of the top Universities in India. He held that digitalization holds the key to the future of our economy.

Prof. D. Ravinder, VC, OU, in his presidential address conveyed he ran short of words with the commitment from the alumni of the Mining Department who are in their late 80s and 90s.

He drew an analogy of how Universities abroad benefited from the participation of Alumni in institution building and the same is to be replicated at OU.

Conducting Global Alumni Meet was an initiative in this direction. Heñ exhorted the Alumni members to share their intellectual inputs and experience by joining OU as Adjunct Faculty or Professors of Practice. (Maxim News)
