AP Governor pays tributes to Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel on birth anniversary
Vijayawada, Oct.31 (NSS): Andhra Pradesh Governor Biswabhusan Harichandan paid glowing tributes to Bharat Ratna Sardar Vallbhbhai Patel on his 147th birth anniversary, by offering flowers to his portrait at a programme held in Durbar Hall in Raj Bhavan here on Monday.
Speaking on the occasion Governor Harichandan said that the birth anniversary of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, popularly known as the Iron Man of India, is also observed as the National Unity Day or Rashtriya Ekta Divas, every year for his key role during the freedom movement and also in the formation of an integrated India, by merging 565 Princely States, which was his unique contribution to the country. He said Prime Minister Narendra Modi took the initiative and installed a grand 182-meter tall statue in Gujarat, which is highest statue in the world, in honour of the great leader. He said Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel as the first Deputy Prime Minister and Home Minister, adopted all measures like sama, dana, bheda and danda, and ensured that all the 565 Princely States had merged with India and the country stands united and integrated. He said that the entire nation remains indebted to the great leader.
R.P. Sisodia, Special Chief Secretary to Governor, Suryaprakash, Joint Secretary and other officers and staff members of Raj Bhavan were present on the occasion. (NSS)
