AP Govt Reduces Number of Wine Shops

Amaravati, May 9 (Maxim News): Andhra Pradesh state government today decided to reduce the total number of wine shops located in its limits as part of its policy ti introduce phase wise ban in liquor consumption.

It has issued orders reducing the total number of the wine shops by 33 percent. With this, the total number of the wine shops have come down to 2934 from 4380 in the state. It may be noted here that the state government had already brought down the numbers by 20 percent earlier.

In the orders, the state government has said that the wine shops which have been reduced would be removed by the end of the ongoing month. The state government has not only removed 43,000 belt shops but also 40 percent of bars in the state.

The government has also changed the timings of the liquor shops. According to the revised timings, the liquor shops should be opened from 11 am in morning till 8 pm in the evening. (Maxim News)
