AP is Taking Water From Srisailam Project Illegally: TS Govt
Hyderabad, Aug.12 (Maxim News): Telangana government today said that Andhra Pradesh is illegally taking away water from Srisailam project.
In a letter addressed to the Krishna Board, Engineer-In-Chief (ENC) objected to the Krishna Board about the three more projects coming up in Andhra Pradesh state. He opposed that the AP Government is taking away 54 TMC water from this project against the allocation of 39.09 TMC water.
ENC Muralidhar informed the Krishna Board that the AP Government is violating norms by constructing three project sites at Muchumarri, Malyala and Banakacharla. The ENC urged the Board to stop illegal drawing of water to Sunkeshula, and Handrinvia canals.
It is not possible to take 5 TMC from RDS which was allotted 15.90 tmc, he said.
The lifting of water and projects’ construction are in violation of norms and must be stopped, the ENC said.
The ENC opposed the AP Government and has been drawing more water than allocated to it.
It is violating norms despite the board instructions by taking away more water than allocated, he deplored.
Krishna Board is visiting the project sites in the AP and to submit a report to NGT on the same.
Telangana urged the Centre and the board to stop illegal drawing water and construction of the projects. (Maxim News)
