AP Registers First Case Under Disha Act
Amaravati, Feb.11 (Maxim News): The Andhra Pradesh government which set up Disha police station for protection of women against sexual offenses, registered its first case and arrested a person, who assaulted a woman in Vijayawada on Tuesday. The police arrested the culprit with the help of a Disha app.
The accused allegedly assaulted a woman traveling from Visakhapatnam to Vijayawada. The police took immediate action against the culprit after they received the complaint through SOS at 4.21 am. The call of the victim was registered at Mangalagiri Disha call center. Acting upon this, the Eluru police arrested the accused within six minutes after receiving the call. Police lodged an FIR at Eluru three town police station, on the complaint of a female traveler,” said Dipika Patil, DIG. (Maxim News)
