Hyderabad, Sept. 24 (Maxim News): AP Telangana Weather remains under close watch as heavy rains lash several districts after a deep depression crossed the North Andhra coast. The India Meteorological Department has warned of extremely heavy rain in Telangana on Thursday and Friday.
The deep depression moved inland after crossing the North Andhra coast near Kalingapatnam. The system had moved northwest at about 5 kmph during the six hours before the latest IMD bulletin. It lay near the North Andhra coast on Wednesday evening.
However, the weather system continues to influence rainfall across the region. Coastal Andhra Pradesh faces further heavy rain on Thursday. The IMD has also forecast strong winds and thunderstorms in parts of the state.
Meanwhile, Telangana faces a fresh spell of intense rainfall. The IMD has forecast extremely heavy rain in the state on September 24 and September 25. It expects heavy rain on September 26. The department currently shows no warning for Telangana from September 27.
AP Telangana Weather alert continues as officials step up monitoring
The latest AP Telangana Weather outlook has prompted authorities to maintain close ground level monitoring. Officials have warned residents in vulnerable areas about possible flooding, waterlogging and strong winds.
In Telangana, districts in the northern and eastern parts face the strongest rainfall threat. The warning covers areas including Komuram Bheem Asifabad, Mancherial, Jayashankar Bhupalapally, Mulugu and Bhadradri Kothagudem.
The weather system may also cause intense rainfall in adjoining districts. Therefore, residents should follow local administration advisories during periods of heavy rain.
In Andhra Pradesh, North Coastal Andhra has faced the strongest impact. Heavy rainfall has affected several areas since Wednesday. Reports also indicate substantial rainfall in and around Visakhapatnam.
The Andhra Pradesh State Disaster Management Authority has kept response teams ready in vulnerable districts. Officials have also monitored low lying areas and prepared rescue arrangements.
Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu also held a teleconference with collectors of rain affected districts on Thursday. He directed officials to remain alert as rain may continue through Thursday and Friday.
Naidu asked collectors to monitor water flows and vulnerable areas. He also directed them to take preventive measures around tanks and reservoirs. Furthermore, he stressed quick action whenever field teams request assistance.
The Chief Minister also stressed uninterrupted essential services. Officials must ensure power, drinking water and other basic services remain available in affected areas. He also asked authorities to maintain control rooms and gather field level information.
The administration has also focused on the risk of sudden flooding. Low lying areas can face rapid water accumulation after intense rainfall. Therefore, residents should avoid crossing overflowing streams and flooded roads.
The deep depression has now moved inland after crossing the coast. Nevertheless, its circulation continues to influence rainfall over Telangana and parts of Andhra Pradesh.
The IMD expects the strongest rainfall threat in Telangana through Friday. Conditions should gradually improve after the current warning period.
Authorities have urged people to remain cautious until the weather system weakens. Residents should also rely on official weather bulletins before making travel decisions. (Maxim News)
