Internet, Oct. 17: Apple shares rose 1% on Friday as delivery estimates for its first foldable smartphone, the iPhone Duo, extended into late January. The delay points to a possible early supply crunch ahead of the device’s retail launch.
Priced from $1,999, the iPhone Duo is scheduled to go on sale on October 23. Apple’s US online store lists January 29 as the estimated delivery date for models with 256GB, 512GB, 1TB and 2TB storage options.
Apple Foldable iPhone Demand Supports Apple Stock
Apple is expanding its premium smartphone lineup with the new foldable design. Counterpoint Research estimates the company could sell six million iPhone Duo units in 2026.
The device features two batteries, a glare reducing screen finish and a 48 megapixel Fusion camera. The extended delivery timeline suggests strong early demand, although supply constraints may also be contributing to the wait.

Apple’s conventional flagship models have also recorded strong demand. The iPhone 18 Pro and Pro Max achieved 12% year over year growth during their first week in China, according to Counterpoint Research. Apple captured 33% of China’s smartphone market during that period.
Apple recently became the second company to reach a $5 trillion market capitalisation, following Nvidia. The company is also expected to launch the standard iPhone 18, iPhone Air 2 and iPhone 18e around March 2027.
