Asaduddin Owaisi | Rampur / Hyderabad, Oct 19: AIMIM chief and Hyderabad MP Asaduddin Owaisi has said Muslims are not politically beholden to any party and should develop their own leadership.
Addressing a public meeting in Rampur, Uttar Pradesh, Owaisi said the community no longer needed to depend on political families associated with Jawaharlal Nehru, Mahatma Gandhi or the Yadavs.

He questioned why Muslims should continue supporting established political leaders instead of encouraging leadership from within their own community
Owaisi said some people still urge Muslims to support established parties in the hope that leaders comparable to Nehru or Gandhi would emerge from them.
He contrasted that approach with his own message, saying he wanted people to become leaders themselves rather than remain followers of others.
Asaduddin Owaisi Criticises Parties Over Muslim Representation
Owaisi said Muslim youth possess talent and capabilities comparable to those of young people from other communities.
However, he alleged that major political parties often treat Muslims as a vote bank without providing adequate opportunities for leadership.
He said AIMIM was working to provide a political platform for Muslim youth and other marginalised sections of society.
The AIMIM president and Hyderabad MP urged young people to build their own leadership and participate actively in politics rather than depend on established political families.
His remarks reflect AIMIM’s long-standing argument that Muslim representation should extend beyond electoral support to positions of political leadership and decision-making.

Owaisi’s comments also target the political approach of established parties, including the Congress and regional parties associated with Yadav leadership.

He has argued that communities should seek greater representation rather than rely solely on traditional political alliances.
The remarks have drawn attention amid continuing debates over minority representation and political alliances in Uttar Pradesh. Owaisi’s statements represent his political position, while the parties he criticised may differ on questions of representation and leadership.
