Aspirations Of Telangana Remained Unfulfilled Under KCR Regime: Uttam

Hyderabad, Sept.28 (Maxim News): Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee (TPCC) President N. Uttam Kumar Reddy said that the aspirations of people of Telangana from the new State have remained unfulfilled under four-and-a-half year regime of TRS.

He was speaking at the ‘Telangana Intellectuals Meet’ on ‘Aspirations of People of Telangana – Failure of TRS Government’ organised by Telangana Intellectual Forum at Hanamkonda on Friday.

Uttam Kumar Reddy said that the purpose for which the then Congress president Sonia Gandhi granted statehood for Telangana remained unserved due to the inefficient, incompetent and corrupt rule of caretaker Chief Minister K. Chandrashekhar Rao. He said the level of disappointment among various sections has reached to a stage where people are desperately waiting for elections to throw TRS out of power. Fortunately, he said KCR has provided an early opportunity to people by advancing the Assembly elections by nine months. Stating that the Congress party has given Telangana State, he said people’s aspirations could be fulfilled only by a Congress regime.

The TPCC chief said every section of the society had nurtured a dream related to Telangana State. Believing the tall promises made by KCR in 2014 elections, SCs expected a Dalit CM and three acres of land; Muslims and STs expected increase in their quota in jobs and education to 12%; homeless people had a dream of living in double bed room houses and youth and students expected huge job opportunities and free education. However, KCR betrayed all communities, farmers, youth, students, women and all other sections by shattering their dreams. He said it was high time that a government (TRS), which cheated everyone, be thrown out of power in next elections.

Stating that Assembly elections are likely to be held in November, Uttam Kumar Reddy said that next polls would not between any parties but they would be between “KCR Family and People of Telangana”. He said people should defeat TRS if they wish to save democracy in Telangana.

Uttam Kumar Reddy urged the party cadre to dedicate all their time and energy for the Congress party for the next two months. He asked them to take the Congress party’s message to each and every household across Telangana State. He said all Congress workers must acquaint themselves with the information on failures of TRS Government and what Congress party plans to do for Telangana when voted to power. He assured that the candidates for next elections would be selected only after taking the opinion of local cadre. He also assured that all Congress workers, who gave their blood and sweat to the party and remained loyal in bad times, would be given due recognition in next government.

Asking Congress workers to stay cautious, the TPCC Chief alleged that Prime Minister Narender Modi, KCR and some officials of Election Commission have conspired to conduct huge irregularities in next elections. He expressed fear that the Electronic Voting Machines could be tampered with by Modi-KCR duo. Therefore, he asked the Congress workers at booth level to inspect the EVMs at their polling stations to check malfunctions and possible irregularities. He instead of checking the machine once or twice, he said each EVM should be checked by casting at least 50 trial votes. He alleged that KCR-Modi were trying to suppress people’s right to vote by resorting to irregularities.

Uttam Kumar Reddy also warned KCR against harassing the Congress leaders. “I also appeal to police officials to do their duty as per law. If they act over smart to please their TRS bosses, then they will face serious consequences after Congress party comes to power,” he warned while claiming that, “KCR time is over now.”

“KCR will try various means to stop you from coming to power. He conducted irregularities in electoral rolls and he might try to tamper EVMs. He might even misuse police and other authorities to harass you as he has done in the cases of Jagga Reddy, Gandra Venkatramana Reddy or Revanth Reddy. Come what may. You should not lose hope and be ready to give any sacrifice for the Congress party,” he said.

Welcoming Konda Surekha and her husband Konda Murali into Congress fold, he expressed confidence that the Congress party would win all seats in old undivided Warangal district.

The meeting was also addressed by senior leaders including Ponnala Lakshmaiah, Konda Surekha and other leaders while AICC Secretary Srinivasan Krishnan and senior leader Dr. P. Vinay Kumar were also present. (Maxim News)
