Former Congress minister Sumitra Patir joined Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in Lakhimpur in Assam in presence of chief minister Sarbananda Sonowal today. She was Minister of State with Independent Charge in the previous Congress-led government in the state and represented Dhemaji assembly constituency.
Reacting to her joining rival BJP, Congress state president Ripun Bora said fearing action for her involvement in the Assam Public Service Commission scam she sided with the ruling party.
