Cybercrime Officer Venugopal said, “Fraudsters set traps in many ways—through fake job offers, easy loan schemes, or other deceptive methods. They collect crucial personal information and later misuse it for exploitation.” He also asked students to check apps installed on their phones. He showed how personal data stored in apps can be accessed without users knowing. He advised students to delete suspicious applications.

Meanwhile, Constable Shavalli stressed the need to call the national cybercrime helpline 1930 without delay. He said, “Everyone should understand the significance of the ‘Golden Hour’—the first 60 minutes after a crime occurs. Timely reporting greatly increases our ability to trace lost money and track down the fraudster.” He also spoke about digital arrest scams and safety steps.
