Balapur Ganesh Laddu Fetch Rs 19 lakh this year
Hyderabad, Sept. 19: ‘Bangaru Laddu’ The famous has fetched a whopping Rs 18.9 lakh this year after an open auction at Balapur on the outskirts of the city on September 19.
The 21-kg laddu will be auctioned in the presence of thousands of devotees before the centralised immersion begins from Balapur between 9.30-10 am.
The auction was won by Marri Shashank Reddy who bought the gold-coated laddu that weighs 21kg.
Around 19 people participated in the auction. The bidding for the laddu started at Rs 1,116 and it has been increased in the bidding process.
Last year, the auction was put off due to the lockdown and a spurt in Covid-19 cases.
It is to mention here that In 2020, the Utsav Committee did not organise an auction due to Covid-19 pandemic, in 2019, the laddu was sold for Rs 17.60 lakh. The laddu auction has been a tradition on the day of Ganesh immersion for over 26 years now. The first-ever auction of the Balapur laddu went for Rs 450 in 1994.
Ahead of the auction event, the Balapur Ganesh idol was paraded on the streets of Balapur, and reached the auction venue at 10am.
The idol is on their way to immersion in the Hussain Sagar, amid police security.

The history of auctioning of the Balapur Ganesh laddu dates back to 1994, when it was successfully bid by a Balapur resident, Kolan Mohan Reddy for Rs.450. Since then, the tradition of auctioning the laddu has continued. Bidders believe that successfully bidding for the laddu will bring them health, wealth and prosperity. While those who had successfully bid for the laddu in the earlier auctions are also eligible to take part again.
