Hyderabad, March 26 (Maxim News): Joint CEO Amarapali today said they will conduct polling in Nizamabad Parliamentary segment by using ballots instead of EVMs and VVPATs as per the directive of the Election Commission.
Amarapali told the media at Secretariat that CEO Rajat Kumar has appealed to the EC for its direction to conduct Nizamabad Lok Sabha election wherein over 240 candidates, mostly farmers, were in the election fray demanding MSP for Red jowar and turmeric. Since the EVMs and VVPATs are capable to accommodate only 90 candidates, the EC will go in for ballot mode of polling as the candidates in fray are 240. “We have urged the EC’s nod for printing of ballot papers and for required arrangements”, Amrapali said. “As per the EC directive, we put in place adequate number of ballot boxes for the purpose”, she added.
Amrapali said as per EC directive, polling in Nizamabad constituency will be conducted by ballot paper. She said the turmeric and red Jowar farmers filed nominations for the polls. Despite a large number of nominations, it will have no effect on withdrawals, she felt. (Maxim News)
