Hyderabad, March 26: The Malkajgiri Police ordered the closure of wine shops, toddy shops, and bars attached to restaurants on account of Sri Ram Navami. The restrictions will be in force between 10 am and 10 pm on March 26 within the commissionerate limits.

The order was issued by Malkajgiri Police Commissioner Avinash Mohanty on Thursday. The directive applies to all such establishments. However, it excludes bars located in star hotels and registered clubs. Officials said the move is part of arrangements for the festival.

Meanwhile, the police made it clear that strict action will follow any violation. The Commissioner warned that any person found breaking the order will face prosecution. Therefore, shop owners and bar operators must comply with the directive during the specified hours.

Sri Ram Navami is observed across the region, and authorities often issue such orders to maintain order. In this case, the closure covers a wide range of outlets, including wine shops and toddy shops. Also, bars attached to restaurants fall under the restriction unless they meet the exemption criteria.
