Bharat Jodo Yatra receiving overwhelming response: Jairam Ramesh
Kurnool, Oct.4 (NSS): Former Union minister and veteran Congress leader Jairam Ramesh today said the ongoing Bharat Jodo Yatra of Rahul Gandhi was receiving overwhelming response in the entire country. He made these remarks during a preparatory meeting of the party leaders in the district. The meeting was held to prepare an action plan for the successful organisation of Rahul Gandhi’s padayatra in the State along with another veteran leader of the party Digivijay Singh.
Speaking on the occasion, Jairam Ramesh promised to give special State status to Andhra Pradesh after coming to power in the State. He said the padayatra would enter the State on October 18 and added that the padayatra would be held from Aloor of the undivided Kurnool district to Mantralayam for 95 km. He said the padayatra would be held for four days in the State and added that the padayatra would be held for 13 days in Telangana. Ramesh said Rahul Gandhi would sign on the special status to Andhra Pradesh State file as his first file after becoming Prime Minister of the country.
Commenting on Telangana CM KCR’s plans to float his BRS party as a national political party, he mocked that the TRS would take VRS after the formation of the BRS party. He alleged that rival BJP and its allies were spewing venom on the Bharat Jodo padayatra of Rahul Gandhi. He said they would release the Bharat Jodo theme song in Telugu on the 18th of this month. He said the Yatra would be continued against the divisions of castes, religions, languages and social and centralised politics. He said the BJP and the RSS were scared of the padayatra and termed the Yatra as an elixir to the Congress party.
Digivijay Singh made it clear that the Congress party would take up the responsibility to confer the special state statue on AP after coming into power in the 2024 general elections. He alleged that rival BJP was creating a divide in the country on the basis of their castes and communities. He added that the BJP was implementing divide and rule policy in the country. He made it clear that the strength of the country was its unity in diversity. Singh agreed that the division of the State had hurt the AP a lot and added that the party would gain strength in the State in the days to come. (NSS)
