Bhatti fails to see development, Rs 80,000 cr spent on schemes: Harish

Hyderabad, March 9 (Maxim News): Finance Minister T Harish Rao today slammed the Congress legislature party leader Mallu Bhatti Vikranarka for accusing the State government of doing nothing for development. “The Opposition should try to give constructive suggestions and avoid making false charges for political gain”, Harish Rao said.

Addressing the members in the Assembly on a debate on the budget on the second day of the session, the Finance Minister took serious exception to the Opposition for making vague remarks. The Centre and RBI have accepted that State GSDP rose to Rs 11.54 Crore and per capita income reached Rs 2.78 lakh and stood at top in the power sector. “In the last six decades, the Congress used votes and failed to develop the nation”, he charged. When the new State was formed, power generation was put at 7750 mw and now it reached to 17800 mw. “We spent a total of Rs 80,000 crore for various schemes including — Rs 9,000 crore for marriage scheme, Rs 1,700 crore for Aasara pensions, Rs 45,000 crore for Rythu Bandhu programs. The Centre followed Rythu Bandhu and Mission Bhagiratha also in some States as farmers ended their lives in the combined State”, he said. “We implement Rythu Bhima like never before in the country and the world”, he claimed. The Minister slammed the Centre for pressing the States to set up power meters at the farm wells only to burden the farmers. “Our State will not do it despite any pressure and support them with Rs 10,000 per acre and 24 hour free power”, he said.

“Telangana achieved its goals by addressing issues of power, water, greenery, forest cover and others through various schemes. For them, we spent huge funds and the fruits are reaching out to the poor and women in the State”, he added. Harish Rao criticised that the Congress ruled the nation for about 60 years and no development was done in villages. Now that the TRS came to power after achieving statehood, it was focusing on welfare and development. With huge funds, we are taking up development works in villages, towns through palle pragathi, pattana pragathi, haritha haram, cemeteries, clean and green drive and others, he claimed.

The minister accused the Congress leader of indulging in a malicious campaign only to tarnish the image of the government. Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao has been releasing funds for development of the villages and towns. The schemes reaching the people are pensions, Kalyana Lakshmi, Shadi Mubarak, housing and others reaching the poor and deserved categories in the districts. He also clarified that about 7,000 plus people in Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka’s segment got the benefits of Kalyana Lakshmi and Shadi Mubarak scheme and got Rs 1.016 lakh towards marriage of the poor girls. “Why is the Congress not accepting and seeing development despite it taking place, he asked.

“Even a Congress MP appreciated our schemes and programs which have benefited the poor and women in the State”, he said. “The government will take loans for people and better future of the State”, he clarified. “Mallanna Sagar project gets water from Kaleshwaram and fills it with 15 TMC water. We released water adequately to crops in several districts which failed to get the same during the previous Congress government. The people will appreciate the Congress if they accept development done”, Harish Rao said. “Despite all schemes reaching and development is being witnessed with huge growth in the farm sector and rise in rural economy, the Opposition party was failing to recognize”, he charged. He also listed out the schemes and programs reaching the people including the Dalit Bandhu, education, health and welfare which got major allocations in the budget 2022-23 financial year.
