Bihar Assembly Election Schedule Released: Polling In Two Phases

Delhi/Hyderabad, Oct 6 (Maxim News): The drumbeat for Bihar Assembly elections has started (Assembly Elections). The Central Election Commission released the schedule on Monday. It has announced that the elections will be held in two phases. The Election Commission held a media conference at Vigyan Bhawan in Delhi today regarding the conduct of Bihar Assembly elections.

On this occasion, Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar announced the dates of Bihar elections. The CEC revealed that the first phase of polling will be held on November 6 and the second phase on November 11. The counting of votes will be conducted on November 14 and the results will be announced. The counting of VVPAT and EVMs will be done only after the counting of postal ballots. Along with the Bihar election schedule, the schedule for by-elections to vacant assembly seats in several states of the country was also announced.

The term of the 243-seat Bihar Assembly will end on November 22. In the meantime, a new government will have to be formed. In this context, the EC, which reviewed the election arrangements, has already announced that the elections will be completed within the deadline. Meanwhile, while polling was held in three phases in the 2020 elections, polling was held in five phases earlier. The EC revealed that there are 7.42 crore voters in Bihar. It published the voter list on September 30.

Meanwhile, Bihar will implement 17 reforms brought for impartiality and transparency in the election process right from the elections. Some of these will be implemented during polling and some during the counting of votes. From now on, no polling station will have more than 1,200 voters. Currently, there are 1,500 voters. With the latest amendment, the current 77,895 polling stations in Bihar will increase to 90,712.

For the first time, color photos will be published on EVMs. CEC Gyanesh Kumar said that this system is being introduced in the Bihar Assembly elections. Color photos and names of the candidates contesting in the elections will be on the EVM machines. It was revealed that these changes have been made to identify the candidates. The CEC said that voters can dial 1950 for any complaints. The CEC today revealed many new changes that will be made through the Bihar Assembly elections. (Maxim News)
