Bird Flu Is Causing A Stir

Chennai/Hyderabad, Feb 24 (Maxim News): The Telangana government has been alerted by reports of bird flu spreading in the state. Surveillance has been intensified at the state border check posts. With reports of hundreds of chickens dying of bird flu in more than 50 villages in Chittoor, Tirupati and other districts, the state animal husbandry department officials have set up special camps at the check posts on the Andhra-Tamil Nadu border and are monitoring them.

For the past week, officials and staff of the Animal Husbandry Department have set up special camps at check posts in three areas of Tiruvallur district, namely Tiruttani-Ponpadi, Uthukota-Periyapalayam, and Gummidipundi-Pothikulam. Goods coming from Andhra Pradesh (Andhta) state, such as autos, vans, lorries and other vehicles carrying eggs, chickens, chicken feed, etc., are being allowed into the state after spraying disinfectants on the tires. Vehicles coming from bird flu-affected areas are being sent back. (Maxim News)
