China has reported the first case of human infection with the H10N3 strain of bird flu from the country's eastern Jiangsu province, China's National Health Commission said on Tuesday. 

Around 1,000 chickens died in a poultry farm in Suryapet on Tuesday. District officials inspected the farm and sent the samples to Pune laboratory for testing if bird flu was the reason.

The Goa administration on Tuesday banned transportation and entry of birds and eggs from neighbouring Maharashtra and Karnataka in wake of the bird flu scare.
