BJP Tripura state committee today charged CPI-M with deliberately creating communal tension misinterpreting the rules framed by the Centre to regulate livestock markets under the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals Act, 1960 (PCA) following the direction of the Supreme Court.
BJP Spokesperson Dr Ashok Sinha today alleged that Tripura had agreed to regulate the livestock market to prevent smuggling of the cattle by filing an affidavit in the Supreme Court along with West Bengal, Jharkhand, Orissa, Bihar, Uttar Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Andhra Pradesh and Haryana.
Based on the affidavit the apex court asked the respected states to constitute district and state level committees to prevent cruelty against animals and the central government was asked to frame necessary rules to ensure the compliance of the PCA Act.
