- BJP confident of Assam and Bengal elections, says Gadkari
- Inclusive development and infrastructure push key BJP strategy
Union Minister Nitin Gadkari has expressed strong confidence that the BJP will win the upcoming assembly elections in Assam and West Bengal. Speaking in an interview, he said the party remains committed to inclusive development and is not against any religious group.
“I am firmly convinced that we will win in Assam and Bengal. BJP’s policy is to include everyone, not just one religion. We oppose infiltrators but not Muslims,” Gadkari explained. He stressed that the BJP’s approach focuses on unity and growth across all sections of society.
Meanwhile, Gadkari highlighted that development is the central theme of the party’s election campaign. He said the BJP is working with commitment, especially in the northeastern states. He noted that large investments are being made in infrastructure projects across the region.
He stated that projects worth Rs. 5 lakh crore are being implemented in the northeastern region. Out of this, infrastructure projects worth Rs. 1.5 lakh crore have already been completed. In addition, projects worth Rs. 1.5 to Rs. 2 lakh crore are under implementation. Another Rs. 2 lakh crore worth of projects are being planned.
He added that better connectivity through roads, highways, and logistics will strengthen the economy of these regions. Therefore, he said this approach will help address long-standing challenges in the Northeast.
However, Gadkari also spoke on the issue of illegal infiltration. He made it clear that the BJP is against infiltration and not against any religion. He warned that if illegal infiltration is not stopped, the country will become a “dharamshala.”
Later, he responded to allegations made by West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee regarding the SIR process of the voters’ list. He said that national interests remain the top priority for the BJP. He added that the party does not engage in politics when it comes to such issues and acts with the country’s interests in mind.
He also noted that public support for political change is increasing in West Bengal. Therefore, he expressed confidence that the BJP will secure victories in both Assam and Bengal in the upcoming elections.
