BJP, If Voted To Power, Will Change Name Of Hyd, Other Cities: Raja Singh

Hyderabad, Nov.9 (Maxim News): BJP former MLA Raja Singh said that BJP would work to rename Hyderabad as ‘Bhagyanagar’ and also change names of other cities in the state after the names of great people, if the party is elected to power in Telangana in the December 7 elections.

Raja Singh, who was a member of the now dissolved State Assembly, told a National news Agency that when Bharatiya Janata Party comes to power in Telangana, the party’s first priority will be development, and the second is changing these names. He said the Qutb Shahis, who ruled the region during the 16th century, had changed the name of the city from Bhagyanagar to Hyderabad. They had also changed the names of other places, he said, adding Secunderabad and Karimnagar were among them.

Singh also found fault with AIMIM president Asaduddin Owaisi’s comments on Thursday that BJP president Amit Shah wants a “Muslim-free” India. He added that Muslims should not believe Owaisi, who had often spoken against Telangana. (Maxim News)
