BRS Celebrate KCR’s 72nd Birthday With Talangana-Themed Programmes

Hyderabad, Feb 17 (Maxim News); The 72nd birthday of BRS president and Opposition leader K Chandrashekhar Rao was celebrated at Telangana Bhavan on Tuesday with senior party leaders in attendance.

To mark the occasion, BRS working president KT Rama Rao, deputy floor leaders T Harish Rao and Talasani Srinivas Yadav along with other leaders cut a 72-kg cake.

Addressing party workers, Harish Rao said they were not celebrating just a leader’s birthday, but the birthday of a movement. He credited Chandrashekhar Rao with leading the Telangana statehood movement at a time when the region faced injustice in water sharing, funds and government jobs.

He recalled the BRS chief’s indefinite hunger strike at NIMS, stating that his determination was crucial in bringing the Delhi powers to its knees and achieving Telangana statehood.

He recalled that Chandrashekhar Rao had sacrificed positions, including MLA and Union Minister posts, for Telangana. He also pointed to flagship schemes such as Mission Kakatiya, Mission Bhagiratha and irrigation projects like Kaleshwaram, which became models for the nation.

Talasani Srinivas Yadav said Chandrashekhar Rao would be remembered in history for achieving Telangana and implementing wide-ranging welfare programmes during his decade in office.

He ridiculed attempts to erase Chandrashekhar Rao and his achievements, pointing out that no one can erase Telangana State, achieved by him, from the nation’s map. He expressed confidence that the BRS would return to power in the next elections.

He said while the Chandrashekhar Rao government initiated numerous development and welfare schemes, the Congress regime should be credited for new means of atrocities and threats against the opposition parties and those questioning it.

“The Congress taught us a lot, and we will return it when we come back to power,” he said, taking a jibe at the Congress.
