BRS Leaders Upset After Election Loss, Skipping MLC Polls: Vinod Kumar
Hyderabad, Feb 11 (Maxim News): Former BRS MP Boyanapalli Vinod Kumar said that BRS leaders are feeling disappointed and demoralized after their defeat in the Assembly and Parliament elections. He stated that he is speaking openly and not hiding anything.
Speaking at a press conference at Telangana Bhavan, Vinod Kumar clarified that BRS has no alliance with BJP in the MLC elections. He explained that since they did not participate in the voter registration process, they have chosen to stay out of the elections. He also pointed out that there were mistakes in the election process and that BRS has skipped MLC elections in the past as well.
Calls for Census and Criticism of Modi Government
Vinod Kumar demanded that the Modi government conduct a national census immediately. He accused the central government of avoiding the caste census and delaying delimitation and women’s reservation.
He said that if delimitation happens, Telangana will get more Assembly seats, as per the Bifurcation Act, which promises an increase by 2026. He also mentioned that the 2021 census was postponed due to COVID-19, but accused Modi of intentionally delaying it for political reasons.
Criticizing the Prime Minister, Vinod Kumar compared Modi’s leadership to “a blind bull in the hay”, saying he is running the country without proper planning. He also reminded that the National Food Security Act was introduced by the UPA government in 2011.
He claimed that the government is avoiding the census to reduce the number of people eligible for ration cards. According to him, if the census is conducted, around 10 crore more people will qualify for ration benefits. (Maxim News)
