BRS Legislators Disrupt Governor’s Address, Slam Congress For ‘False Claims’

Hyderabad, Mar 12 (Maxim News): The Telangana budget session began on a stormy note on Wednesday as BRS legislators repeatedly interrupted Governor Jishnu Dev Verma’s speech addressing the joint session of the State Legislature. They charged the Congress government with misleading claims and governance failures.

In his speech, the Governor credited the Congress for implementing crop loan waivers and Rythu Bharosa, which received strong objections from the Opposition benches, pointing out that the government had failed to implement them fully and in a transparent manner.

The Opposition lambasted Congress for falsely taking credit for Rythu Vedikas, which were established during K. Chandrashekhar Rao’s tenure. Similar protests erupted when the government claimed to have implemented the Rs. 500 bonus for farmers.

Tensions escalated when the Governor praised the Congress for protecting Telangana’s water rights. BRS MLAs rebuked the claim, citing the government’s inaction as projects were drying up, and Andhra Pradesh continued to divert water unchecked.

The issue of hostel deaths also triggered sharp criticism. K.Tarak Rama Rao and other BRS leaders condemned the government’s apathy toward students, demanding that the speech reflect the grim reality of student deaths in government hostels.

Throughout the speech, BRS MLAs raised slogans of “20 percent commission,” alleging corruption in the Congress administration. When the Governor claimed that healthcare services had improved, opposition members mockingly responded with “Zero, Zero” and dismissed the caste census as bogus.
