BRS To Move No-Confidence Motion Against GHMC Mayor

Hyderabad, Jan 21 (Maxim News): The main opposition in Telangana BRS party has taken a key decision. The party has decided to move a no-confidence motion against Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) Mayor Gadwal Vijayalakshmi. For this, a meeting was held for about two hours at the residence of BRS party MLA and former minister Talasani Srinivas Yadav in Hyderabad on Tuesday.

As part of the meeting, the BRS party leaders discussed the strength of their corporators in GHMC and the number of corporators required to move a no-confidence motion.

The meeting discussed at length how to bring together the remaining members, excluding the ex-officio members. Also, the BRS party is working hard to ensure that its grip on GHMC does not slip. BRS MLAs participated in this meeting.

The GHMC elections were held in December 2020. In these elections, the then-BRS government won a huge number of divisions. With this, G.Vijayalakshmi was elected as the corporator from Banjara Hills division. Since she is also the daughter of senior BRS party leader Since she is also the daughter of senior BRS party leader Keshav Rao, Gadwal Vijayalakshmi was given the post of mayor. However, the Telangana Assembly elections were held at the end of 2023.

In these elections, the Telangana voter voted for the Congress party. With this, the Congress government under the leadership of Revanth Reddy came to power. later, as part of Operation Akarsh undertaken by Chief Minister Revanth Reddy, several MLAs of the BRS as well as top leaders of that party also joined hands.

Thus, along with Keshav Rao, his daughter, Mayor G.Vijayalakshmi resigned from the BRS party and extended a hand of friendship to the Congress.

In this context, BRS has undertaken efforts to cast no confidence in Mayor Vijayalakshmi. Moreover, the term of the GHMC council ends at the end of this year. In this context, GHMC elections are to be held again. With this, the top leadership of the BRS party has decided to go out to the people again and show its strength.

On the other hand, in the last GHMC elections, the Congress party won only two divisions. But after the Revanth government came to power, their number reached 19. On the other hand, the GHMC elections are going to be held at the end of this year. CM Revaznth Reddy is taking strategic steps to create a victory for the Congress party in these elections.

On the other hand, in the general elections held in May and June last year, the Congress and BJP won an equal number of MP seats. In this election, BRS party didn’t even get deposits. Similarly, CM Revanth Reddy is preparing firm plans to win the mayoral seat in the GHMC elections as well. (Maxim News)
