The government will establish three new National Institutes of Pharmaceutical Education and Research and modernize seven existing institutes. This move is expected to enhance research, training, and production capabilities in the biopharma sector. It will support the domestic production of key medicines used to treat life-threatening diseases such as cancer and diabetes.

Affordable medicines and key drug production

Several important drugs will see price reductions under the budget. These include Trastuzumab for breast cancer, Osimertinib for lung cancer, Durvalumab for lung and bladder cancer, and Pembrolizumab for advanced cancers. Additionally, Nivolumab, Ibrutinib, Rituximab, Palbociclib, Ribociclib, Avelumab, Cetuximab, Panitumumab, Olaparib, Bevacizumab, Atezolizumab, Cabozantinib, and Lenvatinib are included to treat various cancers, including blood, skin, thyroid, liver, and ovarian cancers. By promoting local production, the government aims to lower costs significantly.

Expansion of medical infrastructure
