Hyderabad, April 2 (Maxim News) Telangana Cyber Security Bureau (TGCSB) Director Shikha Goyal has revealed that a gang that was looting crores of rupees from Indian citizens in collaboration with an international cyber gang has been busted. It was stated that five accused who were illegally supplying SIM cards have been arrested. Those arrested include Syed Ashraf Ali, Syed Sohail, Atiq Ahmed from Hyderabad, Noone Ashok from Hanamkonda, and Rizwan from UP. On the 31st of last month, Ashraf Ali was stopped by immigration officials while trying to travel to Cambodia from Shamshabad Airport with 198 SIM cards. This huge scam came to light.
The gang has so far transported more than 600 SIM cards abroad, it was revealed. In 2023, while working in Dubai, accused Ashraf met Rizwan, who was working in a gaming call center. Rizwan offered to pay a huge amount of money if he gave Indian SIM cards. With this, Ashraf used to collect personal identification documents and SIM cards of innocent people. Among those arrested, Sohail is working as a promoter in Jio, and Atiq and Ashok are working as Airtel agents. It was found that they were creating fake identification documents with their authority and activating and supplying these cards. (Maxim News)
