Cancer Drug Prices | Hyderabad, Oct. 18: Prices of 137 non-scheduled anti-cancer medicines are set to fall by up to 70% from November 9 following a government-imposed cap on trade margins at 30%, according to the report.
The move is expected to provide financial relief to cancer patients and families struggling with high treatment costs. The National Pharmaceutical Pricing Authority (NPPA) has introduced the pricing measures to limit margins across the supply chain.

The trade margin cap is expected to affect several costly cancer treatments, including targeted therapies and biological medicines used for lung, breast, colorectal and blood cancers.
Medicines mentioned in the report include Osimertinib, Palbociclib, Bevacizumab and Pertuzumab. These treatments can place a significant financial burden on patients undergoing long-term care.
According to the report, more than 35 patented formulations and 75 other non-scheduled oncology drugs have been brought under the pricing measures. The report estimates that patients could collectively save around Rs. 2,500 crore annually.
Under the new requirements, manufacturers must update their price lists through the Integrated Pharmaceutical Database Management System (IPDMS) to comply with the revised pricing rules.
The extent of the price reduction will vary by medicine and formulation. Patients should check the revised retail price of their prescribed drugs with pharmacies once the changes take effect.
