On this occasion Dr.Sudha Sinha Clinical Director & HOD Medical Oncology Senior Consultant Medical Oncology & Hematology said In India, the incidence of cancer is increasing rapidly; therefore it is important to step up cancer literacy and knowledge amongst the population.We hope that this will lead to early detection which is important in the management and treatment of cancer and also prevention by making necessary changes in lifestyle.
Dr. Santosh Kumar C Consultant Medical, Pediatric & Hemato – Oncology said Leukemia is a cancer of the blood or bone marrow. Bone marrow produces blood cells. Leukemia can develop due to a problem with blood cell production. It usually affects the leukocytes, or white blood cells. Production of normal Red cells,white cells,platelets become affected . This means that they do not have enough hemoglobin platelets in their blood. Because of this they have weakness,bleeding manifestation,infections with proper treatment leukemia can be cured.
