Cargo ‘Lion’ At Hyderabad International Airport

Hyderabad, Oct 11 (Maxim News): One of the world’s largest cargo aircraft, the Antonov-124 Ruslan’, made its maiden flight at the Shamshabad Airport on Friday. Rusland means lion in Turkish. It was named so because of its high cargo capacity.

The aircraft, which left Abu Dhabi with a huge cargo, touched down on the runway at the Hyderabad International airport at 12 noon. After unloading the cargo here, it took off again at 3.30 pm and left for dubai. It is reported that only 26 Antonov-124 Ruslan aircraft are currently in operation.

This aircraft has four large turbofan engines. Its specialty is carrying 150 tons of cargo, it has a multi-leg landing gear, the wingspan is 6760 square feet. The empty aircraft weighs 1,81,000 kg.

On May 13, 2016, an Antonov -225 Mriya aircraft, which was carrying a huge generator from the Czech Republic to earth, Australia, landed at Shamshabad Airport for a rest en route. It is the largest aircraft in the world. It was completely destroyed in February 2022 during the Russia-Ukraine war. After this, one of the largest aircraft, the Beluga aircraft, landed here on four foreign flights in 2022, 2023 and 2024. Recently, an Antonov-124 unloaded cargo at Ruslan Airport and flew from here to Dubai. (Maxim News)
