CBI summons Kavitha in Delhi liquor policy case

Hyderabad, Mar 12 (Maxim News) : Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) officials on Thursday visited the residence of former MLC and Telangana Jagruthi president K Kavitha. The visit follows fresh developments in the Delhi liquor policy investigation.

According to sources, the CBI has moved the Delhi High Court in connection with the case. The court is likely to hear the matter on March 16. Meanwhile, the agency has asked Kavitha to appear before the court during the hearing.

Officials did not disclose details of the visit. However, sources said it relates to the ongoing probe into alleged irregularities in the Delhi excise policy. The case has seen multiple rounds of investigation by central agencies.

CBI seeks Kavitha presence in court

The CBI recently initiated legal steps to continue its probe. Therefore, the agency wants Kavitha available for proceedings if required. Officials said the process will move forward as per court directions.

Meanwhile, Kavitha confirmed receiving the notice in a social media post. She said the CBI served the notice around 12.30 pm. She said it informed her about the petition filed in the High Court for the March 16 hearing.

She said she is consulting her legal team. She added she will respond through official legal channels. She also said she will fully cooperate with the legal process.

Kavitha said she remains confident that truth will prevail. She also said such notices form part of standard legal procedure when agencies move higher courts. Therefore, she urged stakeholders not to misinterpret the development. She said the legal framework must be respected.

Kavitha has earlier denied all allegations linked to the case. She has maintained that the accusations lack evidence. Moreover, her party leaders have termed the case politically motivated. However, central agencies have continued their investigation.

The Delhi liquor policy case has triggered political reactions in Telangana. Leaders from several parties have responded to the developments. Meanwhile, the investigation remains under judicial review.

K Kavitha earlier served as a Member of the Legislative Council. She also heads Telangana Jagruti, a cultural organisation. The CBI continues to examine financial links and policy decisions related to the case.
